Woodbridge Ontario

Woodbridge is a suburban center of the city of Vaughn, located just north of Toronto in the greater Toronto area. It is east of highway 50, west of highway 400, north of Steeles Avenue, and just south of Major MacKenzie Drive Way

Developers have labeled the new subdivisions that are springing up north of Major Mackenzie Drive Way, between highway 400 and Pine Valley, “Woodbridge Retreat.” This is likely to expand the boundary of what is considered the northern edge of Woodbridge – probably pushing it towards Teston Road.

Before it was merged with nearby communities in 1971 to form the city that we now know, Woodbridge was once an independent town. You can still experience the original downtown core, it can be found on the Woodbridge Avenue stretch between Kipling Avenue and Islington Avenue just north of highway 407. It is considered to be one of the Toronto greater area’s most affluent parts.

You can find a number of different shops and restaurants downtown. You can find the Woodbridge Village Farmers Market here during the summer, and you will find the historic shopping complex Market Lane here as well. In 2007, the community celebrated its 125-year anniversary.

Because of its large Italian-heritage population, you can find some of the best Italian restaurants in the area in Woodbridge. It also features the Woodbridge Italian Festival in August, here you will see food, crafts, dancing, singing, carnival rides, a soccer tournament, and a beauty pageant. The Ontario Soccer Centre is usually the home for this festival, a facility so large that it can hold three indoor soccer fields. Soccer is not the only thing here though, because there are tradeshows, rugby, lacrosse, and field hockey. The Woodbridge Fair, traditionally held around Thanksgiving weekend, has been a staple in the community – having been around for more than 160 years.

Clearly Woodbridge is a desirable place to live – a place that is very much family oriented. There are a number of different property styles as well. These range from the multi-million dollar mansions with private huge lots to homes for first-time buyers. If you want something affordable, perhaps a split-level home, look no further than the Woodbridge area. Regardless of what you are looking for, you will likely find something in Woodbridge.
